Open Planner LLC is committed to making Syllabus2Calendar usable by as many students as possible, and we are working toward alignment with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. This is ongoing work, and the site has not been independently certified or audited by a third party.
What we have done
- Semantic landmarks and headings, with a skip link to the main content on every page
- Keyboard operability for the full workflow, including the syllabus date review screen
- Visible focus indicators and focus containment in dialogs, with focus returned on close
- Labels on every form field, and errors announced to screen readers
- A text list of detected syllabus dates, so the review workflow does not depend on visual page highlighting
- State communicated with text and icons, not color alone (added, skipped, completed, locked)
- Respect for the operating-system "reduce motion" setting
- Responsive layouts that remain usable at 200% zoom, with browser zoom never disabled
Known limitations
- Uploaded syllabi are rendered as their original document pages. If a PDF is a scanned image with no text layer, we cannot read it — and neither can a screen reader. Uploading a text-based PDF, DOCX or TXT copy works better.
- Downloaded spreadsheet and calendar files are opened in third-party apps (Excel, Google Sheets, Apple Calendar, Outlook), whose accessibility we do not control.
- The aesthetic spreadsheet palettes are decorative. If you need maximum contrast, the free Classic theme uses a plain high-contrast layout.

If any part of Syllabus2Calendar is difficult or impossible for you to use, please tell us — it helps us fix real barriers. Include the page, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology or settings you use, if you are comfortable sharing that.
